The Grand Hotel in Oslo, the Norwegian capital, is perhaps its most venerable and elegant deluxe hotel, forming a striking landmark on the city's grandest street, Karl Johans Gate.
The Grand Hotel is a mix of tradition and new styles - timelessly classic, yet offering today's celebrities, world leaders, and you too, all the luxury, quality and comfort you have the right to expect from a modern first-class international hotel. The Grand first opened its doors in 1874. For more than 130 years, the name has been synonymous with quality and atmosphere. World-famous Norwegians such as Henrik Ibsen and Fridtjof Nansen made the Grand their second home. Today, we are proud host to Nobel Peace Prize laureates, celebrities and heads of state. Our guest book is a valuable historical document. And there is space for your name, too.
The hotel is located in the middle of Oslo's main street, Karl Johans gate, downtown Oslo's premier business and shopping area. The city of Oslo, nestling between the fjord and the surrounding hills, is our neighbor. World-class restaurants, entertainment for opera lovers, sports enthusiasts, adventure seekers and museum-goers are all here. Exclusive designer shops and exciting little boutiques are found side by side. Best of all, few capital cities can match Oslo for opportunities to enjoy the open-air life, on the water or in the forests and surrounding countryside.
A stay at the Grand Hotel should be memorable. For us, it is important to create an atmosphere of comfort, friendliness, style and hospitality for our guests.
We have 292 rooms, including 54 suites, with a total of 519 beds, waiting to receive you. Depending on the occasion and your requirements, we can offer you the choice between a luxurious penthouse suite with its own private roof terrace, the famous Tower Suite, a junior suite, or a spacious, well-equipped standard room. Almost all hotelrooms are now non-smoking.
We are accustomed to catering for guests who want only the best; and the hotel now offers an entire Ladies Floor, with individually designed rooms, dedicated to our female guests. Spa and beauty products, fresh fruit, yoga mats and a selection of magazines are just some of the little extras you will find here.
The atmosphere at the Grand Hotel is made using the nostalgia as basis. The hotel with the best location in Norway, is deeply founded in history.
Proud and venerable situated at the corner of Karl Johans Street and Rosenkrantz Street. Here, Henrik Ibsen and Fridtjof Nansen have received ovations on the famous corner balcony. The Grand Café still offers generous open faced sandwiches, and the Royal Guard still parades in front of the hotel, on its way to the Royal palace.
Grand Hotel is the most known and traditional hotel in Norway. Everybody knows its location, and it is a part of our national history. The Grand Café - it was a place to see and to be seen - as it is today! The later years, the Grand has been modernized and renovated several times.
The 135-year-old lady is still as good as new - on the surface. Inside, you'll hear history whispers from its walls.
